Our monthly foster parent support group is scheduled for next Wednesday, March 23rd from 6-8pm at the Family Resource Center (817 N. Country Club, Mesa). The support group takes place on the fourth Wednesday of each month and parents of all stages are encouraged to come and participate.
We've received great feedback from the families who have participated. The more experienced parents enjoy sharing insights with other veterans as well as helping the newbies work through a variety of challenges. Newer foster parents have expressed that they take comfort in knowing that they're not alone in this and that other parents understand exactly what they're going through.
In addition to the parent support group, we also offer a teen support group that takes place during the same time. The teen group offers an environment for foster youth to talk about their experiences and connect with other teens living in out-of-home care. Child care for children age 9 years and younger is also available for $1 per child.
