Family Day - 2010

Did you know that today is Family Day - a day to eat dinner with your children? Family Day is a national movement to inform parents that the parental engagement fostered during frequent family dinners is an effective tool to help keep America's kids substance free.

CASA's annual teen survey, which this year interviewed 1,055 teens ages 12 - 17 and 456 parents of teens via the Internet. The study shows that 72% of teens indicated that eating dinner often with their parents is very or fairly important, however, only 60% of teens say they eat with their families at least five times a week.

More important than the actual meal is that parents spend time listening and talking to their children. It's about parental engagement. For more on this study and Family Day, visit http://bit.ly/cGGEIZ
